Special Edition of GreenPoint EARTH to Celebrate World Environment Day 2021
Production: @greenpoininnovations Artist: @li-hill
Curator: Stephen Donofrio
GreenPoint Innovations and international artist Li-Hill teamed up for a special edition of GreenPoint EARTH to celebrate World Environment Day – June 05, 2021. This exciting mural collaboration, originally planned for 2019, highlights the planet-benefitting role that ecosystem restoration can play for job creation, food security, and addressing climate change, which aligns with the forthcoming decade of 2020 – 2030 being the United Nations Decade of Ecosystem Restoration. In recognition of the leading role that young people play in a more sustainable future, the mural incorporates imagery from a photoshoot with students from Intermediate School 318 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where GreenPoint had previously produced two murals with artists ASVP and Sonny in 2018.
What is Ecosystem Restoration? Ecosystem restoration means preventing, halting, and reversing this damage – to go from exploiting nature to healing it. This World Environment Day will kick off the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a global mission to revive billions of hectares, from forests to farmlands, from the top of mountains to the depth of the sea.
The team made every effort possible to ensure the environmental impact of the mural production is managed and minimized by using reused and recycle paint and materials, and all recyclable materials and waste will be disposed of properly.
Thank you for donations to support this project from Mirtex, Broadway Stages, Mercury Paint, and Condata.
