Winners were announced at the SDG Action Zone, during the United Nations General Assembly, on September 23 at two sessions, the first for the STREETS AWARD and SCREENS AWARD.

About
SCREENS2STREETS
For decades, innovators, researchers, scientists, companies, and governments have been working to develop solutions for a better future. The UN SDGs gives us a blueprint to get there, reflected also in the Climate Week NYC 2020 themes. As we find ourselves at this planetary turning point, it is encouraging that so many of these solutions are becoming increasingly available.
GreenPoint Innovations invited a global community of artists and partners to convene virtually, share climate solutions, their art, and their art-making process to inspire climate action and create a sustainable equitable world for all. Ten artists received a “Screens Award,” and one artist received the “Streets” Award to paint a new street mural in during Climate Week NYC.
In a world undergoing seismic change and desperate for healing, storytelling is more important than ever. From our screens to the streets, GreenPoint EARTH 2020: Screens2Streets unites people, businesses, and governments in a call to act on the urgent climate crisis and build a better future by harnessing the incredible power of ‘Art + Purpose.’
While world leaders will meet virtually at the UN General Assembly, the art submitted to GreenPoint EARTH 2020: Screens2Streets, and the artists, advocates, leaders and communities it engages, will serve as a call to action to create a sustainable equitable world for all, and a ongoing visual inspiration for tackling the global climate crisis.
This collaborative effort is presented by GreenPoint Innovations, the Climate Group’s Climate Week NYC, UN SDG Action Campaign, and Newtown Creek Alliance. In addition, the mural is supported by the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute, Materials for the Arts, Smog Armor, and the Hunter’s Point Park Conservancy.
What was the General Process?
Interested artists first submitted a form to indicate their interest in participating, after which they received information to guide them through the art-making process. Throughout, and by the deadlines provided below, the GreenPoint Innovations team organized all submissions under the Climate Week NYC 2020 themes, and their connected UN Sustainable Development Goals, for review by judges, which directed final decisions.
Awardees were announced publicly during Climate Week NYC beginning on Sept. 21, including runner-ups and honorable mentions.
